Our Leadership

Advisory Council

The Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council advises the Agency Board of Directors regarding the development of a comprehensive and coordinated service system for the aging and adult disabled population of Berrien, Cass and Van Buren Counties.

To assist the Agency in fulfilling its mission of Offering Choices for Independent Lives, Advisory Council members provide feedback on such issues as healthcare, transportation and housing needs; help identify resources and suggest ideas for improvement in services; assist with public hearings, focus groups, and other agency activities; and suggest ways that the agency can best serve seniors and persons with disabilities.

The Advisory Council is comprised of individuals and representatives of community organizations who help to enhance the leadership role of the Area Agency on Aging in developing community-based systems of services. Membership categories include: persons over the age of sixty years who are consumers or potential consumers of service; a community action agency representative; a Senior Volunteer Programs participant; resource persons from non-grantee agencies and members of the general public.
