Professional Volunteer Online Class Host – Campus for Creative Aging

Professional Level Volunteer Position Description

Classification:         Professional Level Volunteer

Reports To:              Campus Coordinator                          

Function:   To assist Region IV AAA staff and volunteer teachers and coaches with online class management on Zoom and other online platforms allowing for increased consumer access to virtual learning opportunities. The Campus for Creative Aging strives to provide older adults with opportunities to share, expand, and unlock their capacity for creative expression, lifelong learning, personal growth, and living with purpose.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Campus for Creative Aging (CCA) Online Class Host volunteer will:

  • Collaborate with class teachers, coaches and volunteers and RIV AAA staff to maximize class participants’ learning experience
  • Manage Zoom class functionality inclusive of launching class sessions, managing participant access (‘admitting’ students to virtual platform); monitoring chat box and alerting instructors of questions from the group
  • Send day-of email reminders and post-event emails to class participants

Overall, the Online Class Host will be responsible for performing duties to facilitate online access to classes, events and other programming to further the mission of Region IV Area Agency on Aging and the Campus for Creative Aging. Reporting to Campus Coordinator, this person will play a key role in the Agency’s overall efforts to serve as a hub for knowledge and connection for older adults across the region.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Self-starter as well as able to work in teams.
  • Proficient computer skills. 
  • Experience or willingness and aptitude to learn Zoom meeting host skills
  • Ability to define problems, draw valid conclusions and work collaborative as well as independently to solve issues.

Compensation

  • This is a volunteer position. Volunteers play a key role in the execution of the Area Agency on Aging’s mission. There is no monetary compensation provided.

Time Commitment – Flexible

  • The expected time commitment is 7-15 hours per week. A minimum of at least six (6) months service commitment is preferred.  The schedule is flexible to meet the volunteer and Agency needs.

  • age 18 or older
